Facebook would say we’re ‘In a relationship’ with Mrs. Marketing
We’re not reinventing beauty. We’re not redefining school pride.
We’re just doing it.
With all the positive feedback and raised eyebrows surrounding this swimsuit calendar endeavor, it was hard for me to understand why something like this hasn’t been done already. After the Tempe12 rolled out of Tucson — and every other city not named Tempe — we knew having soul possession of the market would be the only way publishing a calendar would work.
But it’s not that simple.
The past couple weeks has presented us challenges every startup company faces at the beginning: Gaining traction and saturating a brand in its market. And that’s where we’re focused at this point in the production process.
Back in October, we organized a preliminary photo shoot with Karlee to commit ourselves and make an idea into reality. That’s certainly the biggest reason our buzz around campus has grown significantly in the past few weeks — our Facebook page has almost 900 fans.
In the mean time, we’ve been making connections with every organization, group and startup we can meet with:
* CampusTracks has been a great supporting in tag-team marketing this demographic. Expect to see our banners at many of the same events and concerts around Tucson.
* I flew to Amherst, Mass., and met with CampusLIVE, one of the top up-and-coming startups on the East Coast looking to break into the Arizona market.
* Our executive vice president is in the planning stages of organizing “Hottest College” nights at local bars, where we giveaway t-shirts, hats and other merchandise. Marketing 101.
Which leads this: Marketing man power. We’re currently accepting applications for Marketing Interns for the Spring 2010 semester. Email your résumé and cover letter to broy (at) redcupmedia (dot) com.
Stay with this blog for weekly updates, free giveaway and announcements regarding the 2010 calendar. If you have any suggestions or tips, leave comments and we’ll get back to you.
